Croeso nôl! Welcome back!
It's lovely to welcome everyone back after half term week. There are 7 weeks left until the end of term on the 20th of December and I'd like to remind you of the importance of attendance during this period. Your children's success will depend on good attendance as daily language immersion and consistency are key for their language acquisition. Hearing Welsh 9-3 will give the best opportunity to hear the essential language patterns that are needed and to practise them.
They should be reading their Welsh book or practising vocabulary games on our Google classroom daily after school and completing homework tasks on the weekend also. This will all contribute to their success and confidence.
Please remember to contact me by email if your child is ill or leave a message at Ysgol Bro Edern 029 2048 9445. If you want to discuss progress, Welsh Immersion arrangements or any other matter please contact me by email or on 02920626650. Unfortunately, our teachers will not be able to answer your calls and questions during the day as they are teaching your children but you're very welcome to contact me and leave a message to ask for us to call you and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
I hope that by now you have joined our Seesaw account and appreciate seeing your child enjoying interesting activities and can hear your child speaking Welsh. This will be updated weekly. Seesaw has a translation option for you to use in your home language.
Next week some of Ysgol Bro Edern's Year 7 pupils will be in Llangrannog but we will continue as normal in the Welsh Immersion Unit. Attendance is essential!
A date to remember!!
14/11/24 - there will be an extra day at the registered school.
Thank you for your support.

Email sent to Primary Parents and Carers 9/10/24
On Monday, all Primary pupils received a little treat from me for all their efforts. The children have settled well into the Welsh immersion unit, and we feel very lucky to have such a great group of children in our class! We're all so proud of how they've taken on this challenge. Moving schools can be daunting and it's not easy making new friends and starting your education in a different language but they're doing so well.
The Primary immersion unit cohort this term are a friendly, lively, and enthusiastic group who are eager to learn. We have pupils from every year group and they're all kind to each other and socialise well with each other.
As you know we've recently had a visit from Lynne Neagle MS, the Cabinet Secretary for Education. The children were welcoming, enthusiastic and engaged during her visit and we've since received a message that she thoroughly enjoyed her visit and we were mentioned in her statement to the Senedd yesterday.
We also had a visit from teachers from Carmarthenshire last Thursday who were interested to see how the immersion model works in Cardiff and your children did us all proud. They were all able to greet and introduce themselves to the visitors in Welsh. Our visitors were very impressed by their enthusiasm and achievement in just one month.
So, llongyfarchiadau (congratulations) and a well-deserved round of applause and pat on the back are in order!
Also, we'd like to say thank you to all you parents and guardians for your support. A positive attitude to learning Welsh and excellent attendance is vital for their success and your support is much appreciated. Ensuring that they are well rested and are given time to read their Welsh books at home regularly will help boost their learning and wellbeing. So diolch yn fawr (thank you very much) for your support.
If you're interested in learning a little Welsh alongside your children, we have some online lessons I can forward to you that will help with some conversational Welsh so you could practice at home. They all have voice notes to help with pronunciation and will probably be a lot of fun to do with your children. They'll definitely enjoy teaching you!
Please let me know if you'd like me to send you PowerPoints of these lessons for you to use at a time convenient for you.
A few dates for your calendar:
23/10/24: Welsh Immersion Unit INSET day
6&7/11/24 : Parents evening at Ysgol Groes-wen - a chance to meet with teachers to discuss progress and see their work - details to follow.
28/10/24 - 1/11/24 : Half Term holiday
20/12/24 : End of term
Don't forget to check with your registered school for any other important dates!
Please remember to let us know if your child is absent by email or telephone.
Diolch yn fawr.

At the end of our first month of this academic year I just wanted to let you know that your children have settled well into the Welsh immersion unit, and we feel very lucky to have such a great group of young people in our class! We're all so proud of how they've taken on this challenge. The transition to high school can be daunting and it's not easy making new friends and starting your secondary education in a different language but they're doing so well.
The secondary immersion unit cohort this year are a friendly, lively, and enthusiastic group who are eager to learn. Last week they accepted the challenge to do a presentation about themselves in front of the class in WELSH!! Many were full of nerves and apprehension at the thought of it, but they all smashed it and were buzzing with confidence after it!
We had a visit from teachers from Carmarthenshire on Thursday who were interested to see how the immersion model works in Cardiff and your children did us all proud. They were able to put what they'd learnt for the presentation into practice, by introducing themselves to the visitors in Welsh. Our visitors were very impressed by their enthusiasm and achievement in just one month.
So, llongyfarchiadau (congratulations) and a well-deserved round of applause and pat on the back are in order!
